BIRMINGHAM, Ala.Β β UAB Athletics congratulates Deputy Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator Katreshia Louis-Verrett on being named the new Director of Athletics at North Carolina A&T State University.
Louis-Verrett departs UAB after nine years in Birmingham, having joined the Blazers in July 2017. She returns to North Carolina A&T, where she previously spent six years as the Aggies' Senior Woman Administrator before coming to UAB.
During her time with the Blazers, Louis-Verrett has been a key member of UAB Athletics' senior leadership team, providing administrative oversight and helping guide the department through a period of significant growth and achievement.
"Katreshia has been an invaluable member of our leadership team and has made a tremendous impact on UAB Athletics over the last nine years," UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram said. "While we will certainly miss having her here, this is an outstanding opportunity and one that she has earned. Katreshia is a talented administrator who cares deeply about student-athletes and the people around her, and I know she will do an exceptional job leading North Carolina A&T. We are incredibly proud of her and wish her and her family nothing but the best."
Louis-Verrett's appointment brings her back to a university where she previously served in several leadership roles. During her first tenure at North Carolina A&T, she provided sport administration oversight for eight programs while also serving as Deputy Title IX Coordinator, advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and athletics liaison to the Faculty Athletics Representative.
Prior to North Carolina A&T, Louis-Verrett spent five years at Georgia Tech, including serving as Assistant Director of Compliance. She began her professional career in the legal field after earning her Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center in 2004.
A former collegiate student-athlete, Louis-Verrett earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Miami in 2000 and later received a master's degree in sport administration from Miami. She was a four-year member of the Hurricanes' track and field program and helped Miami capture consecutive Big East championships in 1998 and 1999.
Louis-Verrett has also served on the NCAA Division I Progress-Toward-Degree Waivers Committee and has been an active member of Women Leaders in Sports and the National Association for Athletics Compliance.
She will now return to North Carolina A&T to lead the Aggies' athletics department.
