ORLANDO, Fla. – UAB women's soccer (1-3-1) battled No. 14 UCF (4-0-0) to a 1-1 draw through the opening 45 minutes before the Knights scored twice in the second half to defeat the Blazers 3-1 Thursday night at the UCF Soccer Complex.

UCF struck just 27 seconds into the match when Naomi Clark found the back of the net to give the Knights an early 1-0 advantage. UAB responded in the 14^th minute as Lauren Lucero scored her first goal of the season to even the match at 1-1.

The Blazers continued to create opportunities following the equalizer. Lailah Stewart put a shot on frame less than two minutes later, while Avery Berryman had an attempt blocked in the 23^rd minute. UAB earned three corner kicks in the opening half as the teams entered halftime tied at 1-1.

UAB applied pressure early in the second half, earning four consecutive corner kicks between the 59th and 62nd minutes. Vita Naihin had a shot blocked during the stretch before Caitlin Keeling sent an attempt high.

UCF broke the tie in the 71^st minute when Clark scored her second goal of the night to put the Knights ahead 2-1. Clark completed the hat trick in the 79^th minute to extend the advantage to 3-1.

The Knights finished with a 17-5 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. UAB goalkeeper Leah Parsons recorded four saves in 90 minutes. The Blazers earned eight corner kicks, including five in the second half.

Up next, the Blazers are back at home to host Auburn on Thursday, September 3. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
