BIRMINGHAM – UAB Men's Golf has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a recipient of the 2025-26 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award, recognizing programs that achieved a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the academic year. UAB was also among 88 NCAA Division I programs to earn the GCAA Presidents Special Recognition after posting a team GPA of at least 3.5.
The Blazers were one of a GCAA-record 331 programs across six collegiate divisions to receive a PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award and one of 155 schools nationwide to earn Presidents Special Recognition for maintaining a team GPA of 3.5 or better.
The latest recognition adds to another outstanding year in the classroom for Charlie Hoyle's program.
Earlier this summer, UAB Men's Golf received the NCAA Team Academic Excellence Award after posting a 3.34 cumulative team GPA during the 2025-26 academic year. The Blazers also placed seven student-athletes on the American Conference All-Academic Team, recognizing those who maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 while competing in conference championship-eligible sports.
"Our student-athletes continue to demonstrate what it means to pursue excellence both on the course and in the classroom," Hoyle said. "This recognition is a credit to the commitment our players make every day, as well as the support they receive from our academic services staff and the entire athletic department."
The GCAA Team Academic Awards recognize men's collegiate golf programs that excel academically while competing at the highest levels. The Presidents Special Recognition is reserved for teams that achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, placing UAB among the nation's elite academic golf programs.
