CASEY DENT - VOLLEYBALL
So our volleyball team made a little more history as our season came to an end. Starting the week off, we made history by receiving an at large bid to the NCAA tournament. We were headed to Lincoln, Nebraska where they are known for their intense crowd. The tickets sold out early in the week which surprised us all considering none of us have played in a sold out environment. It was going to be a new and exciting opportunity for our team.
Friday, we played in our first round match against Missouri State and dominated them with a 3-0 sweep. We really played well as a team and everyone had a lot of fun in front of the huge Nebraska crowd. After we finished our game, we stuck around for the Nebraska/Liberty match. It was awesome how intense and into the match the crowd got. They really rallied behind Nebraska. Nebraska pulled out the win and we were set to play them Saturday. We ended up losing to a very talented Nebraska team in three, and this loss was the last of the season and the last for the seniors. Being one of the five seniors, I am very overwhelmed and satisfied with the many things that we as a team have been able to accomplish this season. My career here at UAB has been everything I wanted it to be: exciting, challenging, overwhelming, accomplished ... and I really could go on and on.
I would like to thank everyone involved in the program, coaching staff, my teammates, and supporters for my experience here at UAB as without everyone involved it wouldn't have the same!!!!
