Blazers Finsish Ninth at Memphis Intercollegiate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - After 36 holes on the final day of competition, the UAB women's golf team finished in ninth place with a score of 981 at the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate golf Tournament. Originally, the first two rounds were scheduled to be played on Monday, but due to heavy rain, the second round was rescheduled to Tuesday.
The top finisher for the Blazers was junior Heather Lourie who shot final rounds of 77 and 80 to finish in a tie for 16th with a 239 total. Lourie's total was 13 shots behind medalist Jenny Gleason of North Carolina-Greensboro.
Other Blazers in the top-40 included sophomore Christina Gushanas who tied for 27th, freshman Karen Quinn who tied for 37th, and Emily Hendricks who tied for 39th.
UNCG was the team champion with a total score of 947, just one stroke ahead of Louisville at 948, and four strokes ahead of Arkansas Little-Rock at 951.
