BAYONET POINT, Fla. - With a missed birdie putt on the eighteenth hole of regulation play, junior Heather Lourie of the UAB women's golf team shot a final round 74 to put her into a first place tie with Florida International's Michelle Simpson. Lourie then dropped a putt on the second hole of sudden death playoff to take the title at the Beaconwoods Invitational.
University of South Florida posted the best team score of the day with a 296 to take the title for the second year in a row. UAB shot a final round 307 to finish in third place behind the host Bulls and second place finisher University of Central Florida.
Also finishing in the top twenty for the Blazers was freshman Emily Hendricks who shot a final round 77 to finish tied for 17th.
The Blazers compete again on October 31st in Honolulu, Hawai'i in the University of Hawai'i Invitational.
