UAB Wins Overtime Battle, 2-1 Over Memphis.

Memphis, Tenn. - UAB won its fifth straight match when Juan Carlos Deras scored in the 107th minute to give the Blazers a 2-1 double overtime Conference USA win on the road over Memphis.
The Blazers, ranked 18th nationally, broke a five match win streak for Memphis, who fell to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in Conference. UAB is now 9-3-1 overall and 3-1-1 in C-USA play. Memphis came into the match in second place in the league, while the Blazers are fourth.
It was the third time in the last four matches the Blazers went to overtime. All three have been on the road.
Like the previous two overtime wins, the opposition took a second half lead when Memphis scored on a Tommy White goal at the 57:58 mark.
Jermie Frankson tied the score at 77:26 with a goal on an assist from Roberto Najarro. Frankson has scored in two straight matches and three of the last four.
UAB outshot Memphis 21-11 for the match. The Blazers outshot the Tigers 4-1 in the first overtime, but could not get a goal across. Deras' goal came on the only shot of the second overtime, 1:50 after the period started.
UAB continues conference play Sunday as it hosts Cincinnati at 2 p.m. at UAB's West Campus Field.
