Volleyball Falls To Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama (13-5, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) defeated UAB (7-12, 1-8 Conference USA) 28-30, 30-16, 30-28, 30-23 in volleyball action this evening at The Cave.
Junior right side hitter Kristi Lee led UAB with 12 kills and freshman setter Jessica Liptak recorded her fourth straight double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Karen Boyd posted her third straight double-double, recording 11 kills and 11 digs, and senior outside hitter Shelly Greene added 11 kills and 10 digs for the Blazers.
Freshman outside hitter Erin Heffner led Alabama with 15 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Bibber had 13 kills, eight digs, hit for .324 and had three total blocks, and junior setter Bridget Studnicka added 49 assists for the Crimson Tide.
UAB returns home to Bartow Arena Saturday to take on Conference USA rival South Florida at 7 p.m.
