Volleyball Falls To Houston 3-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Houston (11-8, 8-2 Conference USA) extended its Conference USA winning streak to six matches as the Cougars topped UAB (8-14, 1-10 C-USA) 30-21, 30-16, 30-16 in volleyball action this evening at Bartow Arena.
Sophomore outside hitter Martina Shields had 10 kills and six digs to lead UAB. Freshman setter Jessica Liptak added 22 assists and seven digs for the Blazers.
Junior middle hitter Jane Anne Karasek led Houston with 13 kills, 11 digs, three total blocks and a .324 hitting percentage. Junior setter Donna Sellen posted 34 assists, six kills and a .364 hitting percentage for the Cougars.
UAB returns home to Bartow Arena Sunday to face C-USA rival TCU at 2 p.m. Houston travels to Tampa, Fla. for another C-USA matchup against South Florida Sunday at 2 p.m. (ET).
