Volleyball Tops Mississippi State 3-1

STARKVILLE, Miss. - UAB (10-14, 2-10 Conference USA) defeated Mississippi State (6-15, 1-10 Southeastern Conference) 30-24, 30-25, 24-30, 30-22 in volleyball action this evening at the Newell-Grissom Building.
Senior outside hitter Shelly Greene had 14 kills, hit for .520 and had eight digs, and junior right side hitter Kristi Lee posted 15 kills and six digs to lead the Blazers. Freshman setter Jessica Liptak recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 51 assists and 10 digs and sophomore outside hitter Martina Shields posted her fifth double-double of the season with 13 kills and 12 digs for UAB.
Sophomore right side hitter Tanika Taylor and sophomore middle blocker Jennifer Rousey each had 10 kills apiece for the Bulldogs. Sophomore setter Jennifer Hadden added 28 assists for Mississippi State.
UAB next travels to Saint Louis for a C-USA matchup with the Billikens Friday at 7 p.m.
