BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB (10-13, 3-3 Conference USA) extended its winning streak to three matches and evened up its conference record after knocking off Saint Louis (14-8, 4-2 C-USA) 3-0 in Conference USA volleyball action Tuesday evening at Bartow Arena.
UAB jumped out to a quick 19-4 advantage in game one and never looked back, winning the game 30-20.

Game three was also tightly contested, but with Saint Louis leading 21-18, UAB went on a 5-0 run to take a 23-21 advantage. The Blazers would not relinquish the lead, going on to win the game 30-26.
"My girls are incredible," said UAB head coach Melinda Claiborne. "We have been preaching to them all season long and they have finally heard the word. Now they are taking ownership of it. We came out tonight with a total team effort. We can't win with just one player, and we have all six on the same page. Right now, they are a tight knit team and I am really excited about the rest of the season."
Junior outside hitter Martina Shields posted her team-leading eighth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 11 digs, while hitting for .452 for UAB. Lee led the match in kills with 18 and had seven digs to go along with a .351 hitting percentage. Senior setter Dina Katsoulis recorded her fifth double-double of the season for UAB, posting 48 assists and 14 digs, and junior middle blocker Karen Boyd added 11 kills, six total blocks, seven digs and a .409 hitting percentage.
