Volleyball Team Falls To Houston

HOUSTON, Texas - UAB (10-15, 3-5 Conference USA) fell to Houston (14-7, 4-2 C-USA) 30-28, 30-14, 30-26 in Conference USA volleyball action this evening at Hofheinz Pavilion.
Junior outside hitter Martina Shields led the Blazers, as she posted her team-leading eighth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 11 digs. Senior middle blocker Allison Magner had 11 kills while hitting for .391 and senior setter Dina Katsoulis added 34 assists for UAB.
"This was a disappointing loss," said UAB head coach Melinda Claiborne. "We seemed to struggle again offensively. Our inconsistency hurt us tonight."
Houston was led by Jenny Tanneberger who had 25 kills while hitting for .400. Laura Koster had 17 kills and posted a .382 hitting percentage and Donna Sellen had 45 assists and 10 digs for the Cougars.
UAB next travels to Tampa Fla. to face C-USA rival South Florida Friday at 7 p.m. (ET).
