Men's Soccer Team Shuts Out Georgia State

ATLANTA, Ga. - The UAB men's soccer team (9-5-3) rebounded today after back to back heart-breaking double-overtime losses with a 3-0 shut out of Georgia State (6-8-1). The Blazers are now 5-2-1 in their last eight contests.
Jermie Frankson struck first for the Blazers off an assist by Nnamdi Ngwe at the 28:21 mark.
Oswaldo Gallegos added another goal for UAB at the 35:09 mark off an assist by Chris O'Neal and Jose Rayo.
UAB led 2-0 at the break.
A Georgia State own goal added the final score of the match at the 87:40 mark.
"I thought the team dug down and played hard today," said UAB head coach Mike Getman. "We shut out a good Georgia State team. We played hard from start to finish today."
The Blazers out-shot the Panthers 13-3.
UAB goalkeepers Clint Baumstark and Keith Borgner combined for the shutout. The Blazers now have six shutouts for the season.
UAB returns home to West Campus Field for its final regular season match Saturday, as the Blazers will face Conference USA rival Cincinnati at 7 p.m.
