Women's Golf Team Concludes Play At Waterlefe/USF Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. ----- UAB completed play at the Waterlefe/USF Invitational at the Waterlefe Golf Club here Tuesday, placing in 11th out of the 14-team field with a three-round score of 940 (319-317-304). Conference USA foe TCU captured the tournament title with an 898 (307-292-299).
The Lady Blazers were led by Brooke Mangan who carded a three-day score of 231 (83-76-72) to finish in a tie for 21st. Freshman Katie Kane placed in a tie for 34th with a 236 (80-78-78), followed by Liz Schweihs who was on stroke behind Kane with a 237 (78-81-78) to finish in 39th. Jenni Elmore (84-82-76=242) and Janey Deimling (78-85-80=243) finished in ties for 47th and 51st, respectively.
After leading enterning play on Tuesday, tournament hosts South Florida finished second behind the Horned Frogs with a 907 (302-311-294). Penn State finished in third over all with a three-round score of 912 (307-308-297), while Louisville finished fourth with a 918 (303-311-304). Ole Miss (309-306-307=922) and East Carolina (309-309-304=922) rounded out the top five.
The Lady Blazers will next be in action when they compete at the Samford Invitational on March 24-25 in Birmingham, Ala.
