Women's Golf Team Finishes Fourth At Samford Intercollegiate

CALERA, Ala. ----- The UAB women's golf team finished fourth here Tuesday after carding a 310 in the final round of the Samford Intercollegiate.
In the individual standings, Lady Blazer sophomore Brooke Mangan placed fifth as she shot 75 Tuesday after a 73 in the opening round of play.
The tournament, played at the Timberline Golf Club, was won by Alabama which shot 601 (300-301). Jacksonville State was second at 605 (300-305), followed by Southern Mississippi (618, 317-301), UAB (621, 311-310) and Middle Tennessee (626, 317-309).
Mangan, from Mornington, Australia, finished four shots off the winning individual score of Jacksonville State's Marie Eve-Dion, who fired a 144 (72-72) over two rounds. Alabama's Anna Strandberg was second at 145 (73-72) while her teammate and first-round leader Darby Sligh (71-75) and Middle Tennessee's Tamara Munsch (72-74) tied for third at 146.
UAB's Liz Schweihs tied for 10th individually with a 155 (79-76). Other Lady Blazers and their finish were: Katie Kane in a tie for 19th (157, 79-78), Jenni Elmore (T33, 161, 80-81) and Janey Deimling (T59, 167, 85-82).
