Women's Golf Postponed Due To Rain

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. ----- Day two of the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic was cancelled due to stormy and rainy conditions. The final round will take place on Sunday morning weather permitting.
18 teams teed off this morning just after 8 under a light rain, but the rain grew in intensity as the round progressed. But with most teams on their 8th hole of the day, play was suspended for the day due to the heavy rain.
The decision to postpone the tournament until tomorrow was made at an 11:30 coaches meeting. The format of the event tomorrow will be the top 24 teams from yesterday's results will play the Green course in the tournament championship with a shotgun start at 8 AM. Teams 25-36 will play the Silver course in the flighted championship getting off at 9:30 PM in a shotgun start. Due to weather and play conditions the gold course will not be used in tomorrow's final round.
Heading into tomorrow's final round, UAB is in 10th place. The closest school to the event, Coastal Carolina, is leading the tournament with a 296 to the lead in the event by 10 shots over second placed James Madison and Middle Tennessee State.
The individual leader after day one of competition is Carol Green from James Madison. Green shot a blistering 71 to take a one shot lead over two Coastal Carolina players in Danielle Renner and Natalie Cruse.
The top Lady Blazer individualist is senior Katie Kane who shot a 77 (41-36) to place in a tie for 21st overall. Junior Brooke Mangan is one stroke behind Kane with a 78 (40-38), while freshman Martha Hudson (41-39) and junior Liz Schweihs (41-39) are tied for 57th with an 80 on the afternoon. Sophomore Janey Deimling rounds out the Lady Blazer scoring with an 81 (39-42).
Heading into Sunday team two and team 13 are separated by just 10 shots.
