Blazers Finish Cincinnati Spring Invitational Tied For Sixth Place

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. - The UAB women's golf team concluded its competition in the Cincinnati Spring Invitational on Saturday, finishing in a tie for sixth place in the team standings with a two-round score of 650 at the Plantation Inn Golf Course in Crystal River, Fla.
Freshman Carolyn Cochran led the Blazers throughout the event, tallying a 157 to finish in a tie for ninth place in the individual standings. Senior Jennifer Head shot a second-round 76 to finish just one shot behind Cochran, 158, and tie for the 14th spot.
Sophomore Alyson Mitchell tied for 35th with a score of 166, while sophomore Christina Wentworth and senior Lois Jones finished 41st and 48th place, respectively, with two-round totals of 169 and 180.
Florida Atlantic, who was in third place after day one, jumped two spots to take the tournament title with a total of 620. Princeton finished second, shooting a 622, while Middle Tennessee State took the third spot with a score of 626.
Host-school Cincinnati ended its annual event in fourth place (628) and Illinois finished in fifth place (632). Yale tied with UAB for the sixth spot at 650, while Siena and Rutgers rounded out the competition in eighth and ninth place, respectively, with scores of 673 and 678.
UAB's next tournament will be on April 2-3 at the Lady Eagle Classic in Hattiesburg, Miss.
