TROY, Ala. - The UAB volleyball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 3-0 (30-24, 30-23, 31-29) victory at Troy Tuesday night. Juniors Ivana Bozic and Aleksandra Vujovic each recorded double-doubles against the Trojans.
Bozic finished with 15 kills and 14 digs, while Vujovic totaled 10 kills and 19 digs.
Troy is now 2-2 with the loss.
"To be honest I thought we lacked the intensity and emotion that we need to have," said UAB head coach Kerry Messersmith following the win. "I thought we played very good defense tonight, but the emotion just wasn't there and we'll need to get that fixed really quick before we head to Alabama this weekend."
Senior outside hitter Fernanda Domingos, this week's Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, finished with 10 kills, while her younger sister, Lilly, made three blocks.
Junior setter Nevena Stefanov finished with 51 assists and senior libero Brianna Galvin aided the team's defensive effort with 13 digs.
The Blazers have now won 16 of their last 17 matches dating back to last season.
UAB will be back in action on Friday when it takes on Alabama and Illinois State at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively, at the Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
