BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Junior volleyball player Andrea Lalic has been selected as the UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Lalic has been a key factor in the Blazers' success on the court, and she has also been recognized for her work in the classroom.
An outside hitter, Lalic ranks third on the team with 2.45 kills per set and has also added 43 blocks on the season. She has posted double-digit kills in 10 matches while helping UAB to a 22-5 overall record and a 12-3 mark in Conference USA.
Off the court, the civil engineering major has previously been honored on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. Lalic, a native of Budva, Montenegro, is also a 2008 C-USA All-Academic Team nominee.
Lalic becomes the second volleyball player to earn the UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week honor this fall, joining teammate Casey Dent, who was recognized with the award on Oct. 14.
The UAB volleyball team closes out its regular season conference slate this weekend at Memphis. The Blazers and Tigers will square off Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
