Blazers Conclude Samford Intercollegiate Tied For 11th Place

ONEONTA, Ala. - The UAB women's golf team ended its play at the Samford Intercollegiate Tuesday with a three-round total of 949. The Blazers tied with Birmingham-Southern for 11th place in the 15-team tournament at Limestone Springs Golf Club.
Tulsa took home the tournament title with a score of 884, including a tournament-low round of 290 during round one. Chattanooga placed second with a total of 901 and Jacksonville State finished third at 913.
Chattanooga's Emma deGroot took home the individual title by shooting rounds of 72-71-68 to finish with a score of 211. Tulsa's Michaela Cavener placed second with a score of 217.
Junior Christina Wentworth and sophomore Carolyn Cochran led the Blazers by tallying identical scores of 233 to tie for 27th place in the individual standings.
Freshman Lindsay Taylor tied for 43rd place with a three-round score of 238, while freshman Jaime Brabb placed 60th with a 245. Junior Alyson Mitchell finished 74th by carding a score of 255.
"Everybody played well at times," said UAB head coach Kim Wilcox. "All five of our players had their good moments and then something would happen and they would lose focus a little bit. We will be working on that during the upcoming week before our next tournament."
UAB will be back in action on March 28-29 when they play in the Cincinnati Spring Invitational in Crystal River, Fla.
