ORLANDO, Fla. - Senior Zack Sucher recorded an even par 71 during the second round of the 2009 NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday and will enter the third and final day in a tie for 37th place overall. Sucher, who carded a one-over par 72 during Thursday's first round, has a two-day tally of one-over par 143 on the par 71, 7,136-yard Red Tail Golf Course.
For the second consecutive day, Sucher got off to a shaky start, as the Mobile, Ala. native recorded three bogeys over his opening nine holes. However, similar to his opening 18 holes, Sucher rebounded by carding four birdies to only one bogey over the last nine holes of his round to climb back to even par for the day.
In all, Sucher improved eight spots from yesterday when he ended in a tie for 45th overall.
As the top individual qualifier in the Southeast Region, Sucher needs to finish as the top individual who is not associated with the top five teams in order to clinch an individual slot at Nationals. Through two rounds, that spot belongs to Campbell's Zak Drescher, whose team is in 11th place, but he is at six-under par (136) for the tournament.
