BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB volleyball team plays three of its final four matches at home, starting this weekend with a pair of Conference USA contests at Bartow Arena.
UAB will host UTEP on Friday at 7 p.m. CT for Senior Night with a pre-match ceremony honoring seniors Jordan McDonald and Michelle Uzoh. The Blazers will then meet UCF on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
UAB (9-19, 6-10 C-USA) is coming off its strongest offensive performance of the season in a 3-0 road win over Tulane last Sunday. The Blazers hit for a .357 percentage as a team, led by a 12-kill effort from freshman Ally Slaughter.
Heather Thomas enters this weekend chasing the UAB single-season digs record. With four matches remaining, the junior libero has 532 digs, 60 shy of former Blazer Brianna Galvin's school record of 592.
Sam Serley paces the UAB attack with 2.88 kills per set, 1.04 blocks per frame and a .316 hitting percentage.
UTEP (12-17, 4-12 C-USA) enters Friday's contest looking to snap a 10-match losing streak. The Miners fell last weekend to league-leaders Tulsa and SMU and are winless since back-to-back victories over Marshall on Oct. 8-9.
UCF (13-15, 6-10 C-USA) also dropped matches to Tulsa and SMU last weekend. The Knights, which have lost five of their past six contests, open their weekend Friday at Memphis before heading on to Birmingham.
UAB has already seen both of this weekend's opponents on the road this year. The Blazers dropped a 3-2 decision at UCF on Oct. 22 and defeated UTEP 3-1 on Oct. 24.
