BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB women's golf head coach Kim Wilcox announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Tuesday. Amanda Richey, a native of Rainbow City, Ala., and University of Miami transfer Jaime Ritter will join the Blazers for the 2010-11 season.
"I've watched both Amanda and Jaime for several years and am excited they will be joining our program in the fall," Wilcox said. "Jaime's previous collegiate experience will be beneficial to our team and with Amanda, we're always thrilled to have Alabama student-athletes representing UAB."
Richey became the first female golfer from Gadsden City High School to sign a scholarship. She finished tied for third at the Class 6A, Section 3 tournament earlier this year, leading the Titans to a third-place finish. Richey also placed second at the Gadsden Area Girls High School Golf Tournament in April.
Ritter spent last season at Miami where she participated in three tournaments. The Davie, Fla., native shot her best round, a 79, at the Eat-A-Peach Collegiate on Oct. 4, 2009. Prior to Miami, Ritter attended Archbishop McCarthy High School where she was a two-time district champion.
