BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's golf team begins the fall season on Saturday at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina at the Waynesville Inn Golf Resort in Spa in Waynesville, N.C.
A combined 24 teams will square off vying for both team and individual titles at the 12th-annual tournament. The two-round, 36-hole tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT on Saturday, with the final round also teeing off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT on Sunday.
The Blazers are led by senior Carolyn Cochran who competed in all nine events for the Green and Gold last year. Cochran took home medalist honors at the 2009 UAB Fall Beach Blast and finished as UAB's top performer in four tournaments during her junior campaign.
Senior Lindsay Taylor finished tied for fifth at last year's Great Smokies Intercollegiate. She shot a 70 in the first round before rain shortened the event.
