Carolyn Cochran Selected As Student-Athlete of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Carolyn Cochran, a senior on the UAB women's golf team, has been selected as the UAB Student Athlete of the Week.
Cochran carries a 3.97 cumulative GPA as a biology major at UAB and has received presidential honors in seven of her eight semesters at the university. She is a four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and a four-time recipient of the league's academic medal. Cochran also earned a spot on the league's all-academic team a year ago.
On the course, Cochran has been a key member of the UAB team throughout her career. The 2010-11 campaign has been no different, as the Daphne, Ala., native has finished among the top three golfers for the Blazers in five of the six tournaments on the season. For her career, Cochran has competed in 34 career events and finished among the top 25 in 19 of her 34 tournaments, including five top-25 results. She carries 79.21 per round stroke average this year and a 79.39 during her career.
The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week is highlighted each Saturday morning on Blazers All-Access, which airs locally at 11:30 a.m. on ABC 33/40.
Cochran and the UAB women's golf team will be back in action when it travels to Augusta, Ga., to compete at the Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate on March 13-14.
