Men's Soccer Hosts Tulsa Tuesday Night

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's soccer team will host Tulsa in a crucial Conference USA showdown Tuesday night at West Campus Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Blazers and Golden Hurricane are both riding impressive streaks entering their showdown. Despite dropping a 2-1 decision to Kentucky on Saturday night, UAB has a 5-2-1 record in its last eight matches coming into the Tuesday night's contest.
Likewise, the Golden Hurricane settled for a 2-2 draw at Memphis on Saturday. However, Tulsa comes into this week's games 6-2-1 mark in its last nine matches.
UAB enters the contest Friday night sporting a 7-4-2 record through 13 games on the year and are 2-2 in league play.
Leading the way is senior forward Kofi Gyawu, who enters the contest topping the Blazers in assists (4), points (12/4g-4a), shots (33) and shots on goal (18).
Senior defender Mladen Lemez scored two goals in the final five minutes of play to lift the Blazers past South Carolina on Oct. 10. He now leads the team in goals scored (5) and game-winning goals (2).
Junior Chase Wickham is third on the team in points and tied with freshman Freddy Ruiz for third on the squad in goals scored (3).
Junior goalkeeper Raphael Ville, who has three shutouts on the year, ranks fourth in C-USA with a 1.10 goals against average. The native of Courbevoie, France has made 50 saves, while allowing just 15 goals on the year.
Tulsa (8-4-1, 2-1-1) is led by junior midfielder Christian Mata and freshman forward Bryce Follensbee. Mata comes into the match up at UAB leading C-USA in goals (10) and points (24). Meanwhile, Follensbee has been equally as dangerous with seven goals and 17 points, which ranks third and fourth in the league, respectively.
All students with a valid ID will be served a free meal from Full Moon BBQ beginning at 6 p.m. In addition, the first 100 fans will receive a free set of UAB Thundersticks.
