Women's Golf Finishes Day One Of Memphis Intercollegiate

GERMANTOWN, Tenn.--After two rounds of competition at the FedEx Memphis Women's Intercollegiate, the UAB women's golf team sits in 10th place with a two-round total of 649 (+81/330-319).
Sophomore Holly Robinson and junior Caitlin Watts lead the Blazers as part of a six-way tie for 25th place with two-round totals of 159. Robinson shot a 77 in the second round, which marks the squad's lowest single-round score of the day.
After the first two rounds, Samford sits atop the leader board with a 38-over 606 (304-302). Xavier is currently in second place with a 54-over 622 (306-316) and Central Arkansas rounds out the top-three with a two-round total a 55-over 623 (314-309).
Individually, Samford's Natalie Mitchell finished the day in first place with a three-over par 145 (71-74). Central Arkansas' Julia Roth and Redlands Community College's Sarah Schober finished two strokes behind with two-round totals of 147 (+5) for a tie for second place.
Also for the Blazers, sophomore Margaret Yeh finished in the 36th position after carding a two-round 162 (84-78). Senior Jaime Ritter wrapped the first day of competition with a score of 169 (83-86).
The third and final round of the FedEx Memphis Women's Intercollegiate will begin in a shotgun start tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. CT. The Blazers will tee off from holes 16-20, and will be paired with Marshall and Stephen F. Austin State.
The event is contested at the par-71, 6,150-yard Ridgeway Country Club.
