Watts Leads Blazers As Samford Tourney Ends

ONEONTA, Ala. -- The UAB women's golf team finished the nine-team Samford Intercollegiate at the Limestone Springs Golf Club in ninth place Tuesday. The Blazers garnered a 967 stroke count to end the two-day tournament.
Troy University won the tourney as a team with a score of 50-over par 914.
Maria Luz Besio, from Newberry University, completed the tournament at the top of the leaderboard with her individual score of 3-over par 219.
UAB sophomore Caitlin Watts managed to claim a top-15 spot with her 13-over par 229 performance. Junior Jaime Ritter finished just below Watts with her 21-over par 237 stroke count.
Margaret Yeh finished at 25-over par 241, followed by fellow freshman Holly Robinson at 244 and junior Lindsey Gipson at 248.
Kristin Lottman (255), Amanda Richey (255) and Ana Martin (266) rounded out the scoring for UAB. This marked the first time this year the Blazers have been able to use their entire roster during a tournament with Yeh, Robinson and Richey competing as individuals.
The next and final tournament for UAB will be the C-USA Championship that will take place in Gulf Shores, Ala., April 22-24.
