Bethanie Thomas Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Bethanie Thomas was named to the 2013 Conference USA Volleyball All-Academic Team, the league announced on Monday. Thomas was one of 11 players selected.
Thomas, a native of Huntsville, Ala., excels in the classroom where she holds a 3.93 GPA in civil engineering. A transfer from South Carolina, she was previously named to the SEC Honor Roll as a freshman and sophomore.
On the court, Thomas has been a solid contributor for the Blazers this season. She is one of four players that have played in all 117 sets in 2013. Thomas ranks fourth on the team with 2.12 kills per set and is third with 2.25 digs per set.
She posted a career-best 22 kills in UAB’s five-set match against Tulsa. Against Alabama A&M, she led the team with a career-best .733 hitting percentage on 11 kills and no errors. So far this season she has tallied two double-doubles.
