Women's Tennis Falls To No. 48 Tulane, 7-0

NEW ORLEANS ----- The UAB women’s tennis team dropped its first Conference USA contest of the season on Sunday, falling to No. 48 Tulane, 7-0, at the City Park Pepsi Center in New Orleans.
The Blazers move to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in C-USA play with the loss, while the Green Wave improves to 7-5, 4-1 in C-USA on the season.
UAB’s lone win on the day came at the No. 3 doubles court from Elaine Simon and Isabel Fernandez, who ousted Jenny Hois and Emma Levy, 8-3.
That Blazer victory came in between losses at the first and second doubles courts. Klara Vyskocilova and Ipek Birol of Tulane defeated Rachel Daniell and Menanteau Moolman, 8-1, at the first position, while Caroline Magnusson and Caroline Thornton took an 8-3 win over UAB’s Sarah Witkowski and Caroline Faught at court No. 2.
In singles, the Blazers fought to three sets at the first and third courts, but eventually fell at each position.
Fernandez dropped a 6-0, 7-6 (6) match to #102 Vyskocilova at No. 1, while Levy took a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over Daniell at the second position.
In the remaining four contests, UAB fell in straight-sets to give Tulane a 7-0 victory.
The Blazers now face ULM at 11 a.m. CT on Monday.
