Women's Golf In Sixth At Rainy Bearcat Classic

MAINEVILLE, Ohio - The UAB women's golf team fired a season-best 312 to open play at the Bearcat Classic on Monday as rain cancelled round two at the TPC River's Bend Course.
Round two originally scheduled for Monday will not be played and action will be resume Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. as the tournament will now be shortened to 36 holes.
"The weather was cold, windy and rainy," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "We had an hour and a half rain delay, but the girls hung in there and we are still in it."
The Blazers sit at 24-over par, just five strokes off the lead going into the final 18 holes Tuesday.
Freshman Kayla Wilbourn led the way for the Blazers firing a 3-over, 75. The Cairo, Ga. native shot even-par on 15 holes and carded three bogeys on the third, seventh and ninth to move to 3-over on the day and sit tied for seventh entering Tuesday.
Freshman Rebecca Chandler shot even-par through her first eight holes and dropped five bogeys to finish 5-over, 77 and sit tied for 16th after 18 holes.
Senior Holly Robinson and reigning Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week Sydney Snodgrass both turned in an 8-over, 80 to round out UAB's field of counted scores on the day.
