Bethanie Thomas Named To C-USA All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Bethanie Thomas was selected to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season, the league office announced on Monday. Thomas was one of 11 players selected.
This is Thomas’ second academic honor of the season as she was already named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team. The Huntsville, Ala. native has excelled in the classroom, currently boasting a 3.95 GPA in civil engineering. She helped UAB earn the AVCA Team Academic Award last season.
On the court, Thomas was second on the team with 2.33 digs per set. She recorded a season-high 16 kills to lead the Blazers past Alabama State, and matched that total against Marshall on Senior Day.
In her senior season she finished with 237 kills, 270 digs and 46 blocks. She also led the team with five double-doubles this season and totaled eight in her career at UAB.
