UAB Wins Three To Sit Ninth At Kat Klash

HOUSTON, Texas - The UAB bowling team is in ninth place after the first day of the Kat Klash Tournament on Friday in Houston, Texas.
UAB (20-12) won three matches and lost three in the first day of competition with the baker matches. The Blazers finished with a total pinfall of 5,362 on the day.
The day started well for UAB with a win over Jackson State, 882-832 in the first of six matches. However, the Blazers would drop the next three matches. No. 18 Alabama State just edged UAB, 888-857, in the second match of the day.
UAB then fell to Prairie View, 891-840, and lost to No. 13 North Carolina A&T in another close match, 875-837. The Blazers responded in their final two matches of the day with a win over Delaware State, 982-808, and topped Jackson State, 964-786.
In the standings after day one, No. 2 Arkansas State is in the lead with a 6,025 total pinfall. The Blazers are the first un-ranked team and ahead of No. 20 Monmouth and No. 18 Alabama State in the standings.
The teams will return to the lanes on Saturday for the traditional five-person contests.
