UAB Bowling Finishes Eighth At Mid-Winter Invitational

JONESBORO, Ark. - The UAB bowling team finished eighth at the Mid-Winter Invitational after a win in three matches in the Sunday Championship Bracket.
UAB (32-22) was 5-5 through the 10 traditional matches and finished 1-2 in the bracket play over the three-day tournament. Of the six wins, four came over top-20 ranked teams.
The Blazers opened the final day with a win over No. 7 Wisconsin-Whitewater in bracket play. The Blazers cruised to a 4-0 win in the best-of-seven format with a total of 722 to Wisconsin-Whitewater's 689.
The win moved UAB up in the bracket as it was paired with No. 6 Vanderbilt in the second match. The Blazers won the first game, 233-191, but Vanderbilt rallied to win the next two and take a 2-1 lead. UAB won the fourth game, 218-189, but the Commodores took the final two games to win 4-2.
In the final match of the day, the Blazers and No. 13 McKendree State split the first four games to be tied 2-2. However, McKendree State would edge UAB in the final two games to take the 4-2 win dropping the Blazers to eighth-place.
