Haley Jared Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB volleyball sophomore outside hitter Haley Jared was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team as announced by the league office on Thursday.
The Hartselle, Ala., native has maintained one of the top GPA’s on the squad with a 4.0 mark as an engineering major. The honor is the first of Jared’s career.
Jared saw action in 30 of the Blazers’ 32 matches this season, appearing in 102 sets. The sophomore played a vital role in the UAB offense with 84 kills, 18 assists and 17 service aces.
Defensively, Jared ranked third on the squad with 181 digs. The outside hitter also accounted for 13 total blocks this season.
Jared recorded her first double-double of her career this season, totaling 19 kills and 14 digs against Marshall.
The sophomore also set single-game career highs in kills (19), attempts (43), attack percentage (.302), assists (3), service aces (5), total blocks (4) and digs (20) this season.
“Haley has been a top-class student and a great athlete as well,” said head volleyball coach Kerry Messersmith. “She is the kind of student-athlete we want in our program. I am proud to see she is being recognized for her ability on and off the court.”
