Women's Golf Signs Kenna Hughes

BIRMINGHAM, Ala –Kenna Hughes of Alberta, Canada has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the UAB women’s golf team for the 2016-17 season, UAB head coach Kim Wilcox announced on Thursday.
“Kenna will be a starter on our top five immediately,” said Wilcox. “I watched her play last summer at the Callaway Junior World in San Diego, Calif., and she has a great game with plenty of tournament experience. She will make an excellent addition to our UAB family.”
Hughes, playing out of Willow Park Golf & Country Club, has had a very impressive junior career. Most notably, she was a selected to be part of the prestigious Montana Ryder Cup Team.
On the big stage, Hughes has performed extremely well. In 2013, she finished 16th in the Alberta Junior Girls Championship and improved in 2015 with a ninth place finish.
During the 2015 season, she took medalist honors in high-status events such as the CN Future Links Western Championship, PGA, Alberta, Jr. Masters, MJT Paradise Canyon and numerous CJGA events.
