Ian Svantesson Named to NSCAA All-Southeast Region Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB men’s soccer senior forward Ian Svantesson was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Southeast Region Team as announced by the NSCAA office on Wednesday.
The senior earned third team honors and is one of 20 honorees from Conference USA.
Svantesson started all 16 games in 2015 leading UAB and ranking fifth in Conference USA with 18 points. The Orlando, Fla., native paced the Blazers and stood fourth in the league with eight goals to go along with two assists. In addition, the forward was tied for fifth in the conference with three game-winning goals.
The forward also earned All-Conference USA First Team honors last month.
“I am very happy for Ian,” said men’s soccer head coach Mike Getman. “He worked hard and had a great season to finish as our leading scorer. I am not surprised to see him honored in this way.”
Svantesson marks the 43rd Blazer to earn NSCAA All-Region honors under Getman.
