BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB sand volleyball team will compete in the South Carolina Tournament held in Columbia, S.C. on Saturday and Sunday. The Blazers will play four matches over the two days.
UAB (1-3) will participate in its second straight tournament on the road as the Blazers split action at the Tulane Duals Tournament last weekend. The first match will be against Carson-Newman on Saturday at 7 a.m., followed by a matchup with Florida State at 12:15 p.m. Then competition will continue on Sunday with games against Tulane at 10:30 a.m. and host South Carolina at 2 p.m.
Of the four teams in the tournament, UAB will face two for the second time this season. The Blazers' only win this season came over Tulane last weekend. UAB and South Carolina previously met in the opening match of the season, with the Gamecocks taking the win 4-1.
UAB's pair of senior Becca Howard and freshman Avei Logoleo hold the top record on the season with three wins in the four matches. Seniors Kiriana Hirini and Bethanie Thomas combined for two-straight wins.
