BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB sand volleyball team will be back on the road this weekend at the Southeast Sand Slam hosted by Georgia State on Friday and Saturday in Atlanta, Ga.
UAB (5-7) will play two dual matches while also participating in the pairs tournament over the two days.
The Blazers are slated to take on College of Charleston on Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET and Georgia State at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday. The pairs tournament will begin on Friday and 5:30 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Last weekend UAB won three-straight matches to finish the Blazer Beach Duals Tournament with a 3-1 record. The Blazers topped New Orleans, 5-0, Louisiana-Monroe, 3-2, and Spring Hill, 5-0.
Senior Becca Howard and freshman Avei Logoleo won all four of their matches over the weekend and lead UAB with eight wins on the season. Three other pairs won three of the four matches for the Blazers.
UAB and College of Charleston last met in the 2013-14 season, with the Blazers being edged, 3-2, on March 23. This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams as UAB holds a 2-1 advantage.
The Blazers also lead Georgia State, 2-1, in the series. The two teams last met on April 26, 2014 when UAB took the win, 3-2, at home.
