ATLANTA – Playing in their only fall tournament, members of the UAB beach volleyball team participated in the Collegiate Beach Bash on Saturday at LakePoint Sports Complex.
In a six team field which featured five teams from the CCSA (including UAB), the Blazers had three pairings participate in the tournament and were led by Kat Jovicic and Morgan Smith.
Jovicic, a gradute transfer from Columbia, and Smith, a freshman from Ohio, teamed up together to go 7-1 overall which was tied for the second best record at the tournament.
Fellow teammates Rachel Evans and Gabbi Moreno were paired together and compiled a record of 4-4, while Avery Hoven and Tressa Buckland finished 2-6 playing primarily on courts one and two.
"The Collegiate Beach Bash was a great opportunity for us to get some quality competition at the end of our fall season," said interim head coach Ashley Hardee. "It gave us a close look at what we need to improve on over the winter before we open back up in March."
The Blazers will now prepare for their competition season which takes place in the spring as UAB opens play on March 3 when it hosts the Blazer Beach Duals.
