UAB Beach Volleyball Closes Regular Season at Florida State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB beach volleyball team closes the 2016 regular season with four matches at the Florida State Duals this weekend in Tallahassee, Florida.
UAB opens the contest Friday with a rematch against North Florida at 10 a.m. CT before taking on No. 3 Florida State in conference play at 1 p.m. CT.
The Blazers close the tournament Saturday with back-to-back league contests, beginning at 10:30 a.m. CT against Tulane. UAB closes the regular season against No. 9 Georgia State at 3:30 p.m. CT.
UAB (13-11) enters the weekend after facing tough competition at the Fiesta on Siesta Key Duals last week. The Blazers closed the tournament with a 1-4 record, with their lone victory coming over Jacksonville, 4-1.
The Blazers will face North Florida (19-5) in a rematch from last weekend, when the Ospreys topped UAB, 5-0, to open the Fiesta on Siesta Key Duals.
Florida State (20-1) has faced top competition all season to earn a No. 3 national ranking. The Seminoles’ lone loss came against Hawaii, 4-1, snapping a 13-game win streak. Florida State has won its last six contests.
UAB faced Tulane (14-11) earlier this season at the Gamecock Invitational, where the Green Wave topped UAB, 4-1. Tulane has since notched a 3-6 record in league play.
The Blazers face their second ranked opponent on the weekend in No. 9 Georgia State. The Panthers hold a 19-6 record overall and a 5-3 record in CCSA play.
