UAB Beach Volleyball Sweeps Saturday's Doubleheader

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB beach volleyball team swept Saturday’s doubleheader to improve to 3-0 at the Blazer Beach Duals.
UAB (10-8) opened Saturday’s doubleheader with a 4-1 victory over ULM (7-9) before sweeping Lincoln Memorial (3-11), 5-0.
Gabbi Moreno and Emily Martinez opened Saturday’s contest with a victory over ULM’s Bayleigh Hoffman and Catherine Griffith, 21-19, 21-16.
Tressa Buckland and Avei Logoleo pushed the score to 2-0 after a 21-17, 21-19 victory over Claire Crossfield and Tara Jenkins at the No. 4 position.
Delaney Driver and Kaitlyn Shearer sliced the score to 2-1 after a 21-15, 22-20 victory at the No. 3 position over Amber Treace and Zahria Richard.
Michaela Reessor and Avery Hoven notched the Blazer victory at the No. 2 position, topping Kori Simpson and Hadley Swartz, 21-15, 21-16.
Sara Rishell and Chelsi Carter capped the 4-1 victory at the No. 1 position with a 21-13, 21-17 victory over Hope Pawlik and Taylor Zaeske.
Moreno and Martinez kicked off the Blazers’ sweep over Lincoln Memorial with a 21-12, 21-18 victory over Jordan Green and Fernanda Miaci.
Buckland and Logoleo pushed the score to 2-0, topping Kiera Holland and Peyton McDaniel, 21-13, 21-6. Treace and Richard secured the win with a 23-21, 21-13 victory at the No. 3 position over Sam Cash and Erica Whiteaker.
Reesor and Hoven finished undefeated on the day with a 21-13, 21-18 victory over Bristol Snider and Jamie Jehne, 21-13, 21-18.
The Blazers’ No. 1 pair, Rishell and Carter, closed the sweep with a 21-14, 21-16 win over Abby Cash and Brooke Fleeman.
UAB closes the Blazer Beach Duals with a doubleheader Sunday against Spring Hill and Jacksonville State. First serve is set for 10 a.m. CT. UAB will honor its three graduating seniors, Carter, Rishell and Reesor in a special Senior Day ceremony before UAB’s first match.
