BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Current UAB beach volleyball player Avery Hoven and recent graduate Sara Rishell captured the National Collegiate Sand Volleyball Association (NCSVA) Atlanta Championship and earned an automatic berth into the National Championship Tournament to be played in July.
Hoven and Rishell will travel to Santa Monica, Calif., to compete in the National Championship on July 23rd. The Blazer duo will be among the automatic qualifiers along with winners from the other seven NCSVA sanctioned tournaments.
“I am so proud of Avery and Sara,” head coach Bailey Coleman said. “I’m happy they can represent our program on a national level, and what makes it even more impressive is the fact that this is their first time playing together.”
The National Collegiate Sand Volleyball Association was founded by beach volleyball legend Sinjin Smith and it provides an opportunity for college students across America to compete in regional tournaments for a chance to qualify for the National Collegiate Championship in Santa Monica.
