NOTES:
- UAB has had an ability to win close games this season as the Blazers are 3-1 in games decided by seven points or less. UAB's first three Conference USA games have come down to the final play and those contests have been decided by a combined six points.
- Freshman running back Spencer Brown enters this weekend's game 252 yards shy of Jordan Howard's single-season freshman rushing record. Brown is averaging 128.6 rushing yards per game in C-USA action and 167.5 rushing yards per game in his last two contests. Overall, Brown is fourth in Conference USA with an average of 104.8 yards per game.
- Brown's six rushing touchdowns this season are one behind quarterback A.J. Erdely who leads the team in that category with seven. Erdely has also added seven passing touchdowns and has established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
- Ronnie Turner Jr. has emerged as UAB's third receiving threat along with Andre Wilson and Collin Lisa. Turner Jr. has had back-to-back six-reception contests and is now second on the team with 16 receptions (Wilson with 24 and Lisa with 15).
- Safety Broderick Thomas is coming off a career high 11 tackle performance against Middle Tennessee while he also added his first career interception. Thomas leads the team in total tackles with 51 and has had no less than eight tackles in his last five games.
- In UAB's four wins this season, the Blazer defense is allowing just 18.7 points per game.
- Charlotte welcomes UAB for its Homecoming game this weekend. The 49ers suffered two very close C-USA losses to open the season before falling at Western Kentucky 45-14 last week. Injuries have played a major role for Charlotte. Last week at WKU the 49ers saw four players make their first start and a total of eight lineup changes.
- This is the first meeting between the two schools and it's UAB's second and final game this season against a C-USA East Division opponent.
