Blazers Go Undefeated on Day One

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 19 UAB Bowling team opened the 2017-18 season in impressive fashion going undefeated on day one of the AllState Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational
The Blazers opened the day with a 950-886 victory over Prairie View A&M and then followed with a 1009-991 win over LA Tech in game two.
In game three UAB bowled its second consecutive 1000+ game defeating Valparaiso and the took down Southern 957-891 for a fourth consecutive victory.
Game five came down to the wire but UAB prevailed 1020-1017 for another win over Valparaiso and to cap off the day at 5-0.
"We are so excited to be undefeated after day one," head coach Michelle Crews said. "We had a few rough games but the girls found a way to rally back and win their matches. We had a few nail biters but it was an exciting atmosphere and was awesome to see how much chemistry our team has early in the season."
UAB continues the event with five Traditional matches slated for tomorrow.
