O'FALLON, Ill. – The No. 19 UAB Bowling will look to move up the leaderboard after going 2-3 on day one of the Brunswick Bearcat Open and currently sit in 12th overall.
"It was a challenging day," head coach Michelle Crews said. "The oil pattern played as hard as expected. We played three of the top-10 teams and had a very close match with McKendree."
UAB started the day strong with a 901-873 win over Monmouth before dropping a tightly contest 943-900 with Arkansas State in match two.
The Blazers fell in the third match 973-870 to Stephen F. Austin but bounced back strong and beat Maryville 937-787 in the fourth match.
The Green and Gold closed the day with a tough 962-951 loss to host McKendree to close the day 2-3 overall.
The tournament continues Saturday morning with teams playing five Traditional matches throughout the course of the day.
"We have a good game plan going into tomorrow and our goal is to get better each and every day," Crews said. "I think we are in a good position for tomorrow."
