Blazers Travel to Houston for Kat Klash

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 19 UAB Bowling team continues its 2017-18 season with a trip to Houston, Texas to compete in the Track Kat Klash set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
"We have another challenging weekend ahead of us," head coach Michelle Crews said. "It's a challenging oil pattern in a another really strong and competitive field. The girls have been bowling really well and practicing hard. I am excited to see how they handle the adversity this weekend after being on the road the last few weeks."
The tournament will follow the same traditional format with five Baker game set for Friday, five Traditional games on Saturday and then wraps up with three rounds of best of seven Bracket play.
UAB is led by sophomore Taylor Russell carries a 212.40 average. The Mississippi native finished second at the All-State Sugar Bowling Collegiate Bowling Championships earlier this season and was named to the All-Tournament team.
Joining Russell in Houston will be Rachael Berg, Rachel Strogin, Samantha Johnson, Elise London, Caitlin Cunningham, Sierra Lewis and Annie Hurley.
The competitive field features No. 1 McKendree, No. 2 Nebraska, No. 3 Arkansasn State, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Sam Houston State, No. 6 Stephen F. Austin, No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 10 Central Missouri, No. 12 Delaware State, No. 17 Tulane, No. 20 Prairie View A&M, No. 24 Youngstown State, North Carolina A&T, Maryville, Alabama State, Southern, LA Tech, Texas Southern, Jackson State and Grambling State.
