Blazers Move Into Top-10 On Day Two

O'FALLON, Ill. – The No. 19 UAB Bowling team moved up two spots to sit in10th place going into the third and final day of the Brunswick Bearcat Open.
"I am really happy with the girls performance today," head coach Michelle Crews said. "While there is always room for improvement, the team show some real fire and never gave up in their matches. I think our plan on fresh helped but we still need to get better through transition. Tomorrow is sure to be a challenge as we have the potential to face three of the top-12 teams in the country."
UAB opened the day with a 951-911 win over Prairie View A&M but dropped the second match to Farleigh Dickinson. The Blazers edged Wisconsin Whitewater 897-851 in the third match, defeated Aurora 892-780 in match four and then closed the day with a 955-836 win over St. Francis.
Rachel Strogin led the Blazers individually bowling a 201 average and finished the tournament 16th overall.
Taylor Russell also finished inside the top-30 taking the 29th place after bowling a 190.40 average.
The Blazers open bracket play on Sunday morning with a match against Farleigh Dickinson.
