Blazers Ready for Short Trip Down I-65 for Hornet Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 19 UAB bowling team gets to remain in state this weekend as it competes in the Hornet Classic set for Friday through Sunday in Montgomery, Ala at the Brunswick Zone.
UAB is coming off a 12th place finish at the Track Kat Klash on Nov. 5. Junior Caitlin Cunningham led the Green and Gold with a 26th place finish bowling a 193.00 average over five games.
Taylor Russell leads the Blazers this season with a 202.60 average. The sophomore finished second at the AllState Sugar Bowl earlier this season to take home All-Tournament honors.
Rachel Strogin, joins Russell as being the only Blazers to compete in all 15 games this season, holds a 196.60 average and seven 200+ games.
This weekend's tournament will follow the same traditional format of five Baker matches on Friday, five Traditional games on Saturday and then concluding on Sunday with three Best of Seven matches.
Joining UAB in this weekend' tournament will be Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Florida A&M, Lincoln Memorial, LA Tech, Southern, Bethune Cookman, Jackson State, Belmont and Grambling.
