Blazers Finish 12th in Competitive Track Kat Klash

HOUSTON – The No. 19 UAB bowling team went 5-7 overall to finish 12th at the Track Kat Klash over the weekend. Caitlin Cunningham led the team with a 26th place finish and a 193.00 average.
"This weekend was surely our hardest tournament this year," head coach Michelle Crews said. "After three weeks on the road, I knew we were going to be fighting an uphill battle. We were playing a very hard schedule with a challenging oil pattern while having a tired mind and body. We came out with a few more losses than we would have liked. However, there were many positives like a win over No. 4 Vanderbilt. We will look to continue to build on the positives as we head into the end of our fall and look towards our spring and a hopeful bid in the post season."
The Blazers opened the tournament on Friday going 2-3 through five Baker matches. UAB dropped the first two matches to No. 2 Nebraska and No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore, before battling to consecutive wins over Vanderbilt and Youngstown State.
Saturday featured four Traditional games with a fifth game bye. UAB dropped the opening games to Delaware State and Maryville before taking down North Carolina A&T and Alabama State to close the day.
The final day saw the Green and Gold compete in three best of seven Baker games with UAB going 1-2. The Blazers forced a game seven in the first match against LA Tech but dropped the final frame 193-168. The loss set up a dramatic second match North Carolina A&T forced a game seven which the Blazers took handily 191-174. Central took the third match in seven games.
UAB hits the lanes again on Nov. 19-69 with a short trip down I-65 to Montgomery to compete in the Hornet Classic.
